Предлагается обзор ряда англоязычных источников, посвященных напряжению между представителями управленческого и академического этоса в современных университетах. Опираясь на эти источники и освещаемые в СМИ события, автор исследует причины и способы разрешения конфликтов между двумя группами постоянно противопоставляемых университетских сотрудников. Предложенное в статье теоретическое осмысление проблемы может послужить импульсом для дальнейшего более глубокого изучения академической и управленческой университетских идентичностей, а также объяснить природу конфликта между академическими профессионалами и профессиональными управленцами.
