The article considers the problems related to the evolution of the Russian traditional family. Scientific directions on this problem are defined; historical stages concerning its development are revealed; the peculiarities inherent in the Russian traditional family and its family relations are revealed. The authors clearly defined their scientific and political position concerning the need to preserve the historical traditional meanings and values inherent in the Russian family and the development of modern family policy on their basis. According to the results of the study, the authors present promising provisions concerning the preservation, strengthening and development of traditional values of the Russian family.
