Trends of civic activity of Russian Youth in municipalities

Analyzed is the problem of necessity of civic engagement of today’s Russian youth as a socio-political phenomenon. Based on the empirical sociological data collected by the authors, the article examines the main trends and forecasts of civic activity of Russian youth in municipalities, which will become predetermined in the near future. The authors conducted an empirical sociological study in October-December 2020. The data collection method is a questionnaire survey of young people aged 14–30 (n = 2026 people) living in the Russian Federation. In addition to quantitative research methods, qualitative ones were also used: in January 2021, an expert interview was conducted with ten experts in the field of youth policy and civic participation of Russian youth. In conclusion, the authors formulate conclusions and recommendations aimed at increasing the positive active civic participation of Russian youth in municipalities.
