Directions of development of media education in the Republic of Belarus (1992-2018)

Discussed is modern history of media education in the Republic of Belarus. Elaborated is the scope of directions, in which media education activity is developing in the country. The author comes to the conclusion, that on present stage in the Republic of Belarus there aren’t evidences about formed national system of media education. There are separate segments of varying level and development dynamics. Among problems of integration of media education shown are lack of deliberate, consistent training of future teachers to media literacy of school children, conscious narrowing of the specter of development potential of media education lessons to development of skills of spotting media’s manipulative techniques of mass media. Also analyzed is the problem of aligning theoretical and practical approaches to development of citizens’ media competence.
