Examined is gender asymmetry as social phenomenon, existing in the system of higher education and in the sphere of management. Despite existing gender parity of employment in economy, unequal representation in prestigious sectors and wage gap clearly demonstrate gender discrimination of women. Based on example of Rocket and space corporation “Energy” n.a. S.P. Korolev, gender-specific features of managerial motivation of it’s employees are analyzed, the main problems are identified with the aim of their further elimination. It is concluded, that gender stereotypes create “glass” ceiling for women’s career growth, preventing them from worthy participation in economy and management.

Key words: gender, gender stereotypes, higher education, management, motivation.
